Although it has been officially spring for over a month, it is just starting to truly feel like it and if I could do cartwheels, I would. This has been the longest winter with multiple snow storms and constant freezing temps. I’ve never been so happy to walk out of my apartment without a coat.
I am so excited for warmer weather, eating/drinking outdoors at restaurants, tanning, later sunsets and gingham. My love for gingham has not subsided, especially since I wore it often and even wrote a post about it last year (read here). This print was huge in 2017, seen in many styles as well as pretty pastel colors aside from the classic black and white. I am beyond happy to see it back on trend again this spring/summer!
In my opinion, gingham is becoming the new floral. Don’t get me wrong. I love florals but seeing them on trend year after year does get a little old. They will always be a spring/summer favorite but I believe that gingham is a fresh alternative while also being a fun and versatile print. Gingham is just as classic as stripes or polka dots. Coming back stronger than last year, I’ve seen this print on midi and maxi skirts, coats, kitten heels, pretty ruffle tops, handbags and even suits.
As a lover of the suit trend, that is also sticking with us a little longer, I was thrilled to recreate another gingham look in a suit. I created this suit with a blazer from Forever 21 and pants from the Target x Who What Wear Collection. (Target has a blazer that matches these pants that I linked above, but I really liked the fit and length of this Forever 21 blazer.) Although the prints don’t match exactly, I love how this suit came together.
Since I went with the classic black and white print, I had the opportunity to play with color when it came to my accessories. Accessories are always important but even so for this print. I chose to wear these fun pink sunnies from PinkessCo. This particular style of sunnies are hot this season and have been seen worn by many influencers and celebrities.
This baby blue belt bag from Topshop was a no brainer once I started putting this look together. Fanny packs/belt bags have been trending since last year and it doesn’t seem they are going anywhere yet! I wear my black fanny often and have worn my tan one on the blog a few months ago (see here). However, you can imagine my excitement when I came across this blue one just in time for my spring/summer looks! Lastly, these white boots that completed the look. I can and will most likely wear this look again with sneakers but decided to wear these white boots as they made the look feel more mod.
Are you a fan of gingham? Are you going to implement this print into your looks this season?
