A year ago today, I shared 15 random facts about myself (read the post here).  This year, I went to Instagram and asked you guys to ask me some questions!  I got a lot of great questions from you and my friends.  Based on the questions I got, I grouped them into topics and will answer a bunch today as well as in future posts.  Keep reading to learn some more about me! 🙂

Are you a born and bred New Yorker?  Yes! Proud Native New Yorker!

Where are you from?  My dad is African-American and my mom is Hungarian and Ukrainian.

Are you currently in school?  I am not. I graduated college in 2013, but I do wish I was still in college sometimes.  Adulting isn’t fun! 🙁

What is your current job?  I am currently freelancing but I am still searching for a job in Buying/Merchandising, which is what my prior role entailed before my last job went out of business.

What is your favorite type of food?  It’s a toss up between Mexican and Italian!  I love my tacos and margaritas but man do I also love a good plate of Penne La Vodka or Ravioli with a nice glass of wine.

What is your favorite part about being natural?  Being more confident and comfortable in my own skin.  For years, I did not love my curls and would straighten my hair just to be happy with my overall look.  By learning to embrace my natural hair, I’ve come to realize there’s nothing better than being happy and loving yourself in your natural state.

Has your style changed at all since going natural?  I don’t think it has!  My style is always evolving regardless of what style my hair was kept in.  I used to have this idea that certain outfits looked good with curly hair and some with straight hair.  Looking back on it, I realize a) that is ridiculous lol and b) I was feeding myself reasons to keep my hair straight.  Now I definitely think my fro adds something special to my outfits. 🙂

Most beautiful city you traveled to?  Rome.  I already loved Italy before I visited and I fell even more in love after my stay.  Italians are so pleasant and welcoming.  The history is amazing.  The food and wine are out of this world.  Basically, I just need to move there when I retire, haha.

What do you enjoy most about Instagram?  I love discovering new and upcoming brands whether people are tagging them in their posts or they appear on my explore page.

What is your greatest achievement so far?  Graduating from college.  In my neighborhood, a lot kids don’t even graduate high school, let alone make it to college.  They don’t have the support, motivation or funds.  A majority of my friends are the first college graduates in their families.  I am the second in my family.  Leaving my neighborhood for three years, to pursue my dreams and obtain my Bachelor’s degree is my biggest accomplishment thus far.

Who is the first person you call when something exciting happens?  My mom!  She’s my best friend and biggest supporter.  My wins are her wins.

What was the first concert you ever attended?  NSYNC’s farewell concert.  My sister surprised me with amazing floor seat tickets.  We were so close to the stage!  Justin and I definitely made eye contact a couple of times. 😉

What is your favorite music genre?  I honestly listen to everything but my go-to is always 90’s Pop/Early 2000’s Hip-Hop and R&B.

What is at the top of your bucket list?  Skydiving.  Mind you, I am afraid of heights but it just looks like such an incredible and empowering experience.  Once you jump out of a plane, there’s nothing you can’t do in life.

What is the one item you can’t leave home without?  Aside from my essentials (keys, wallet, iPhone), I can’t leave my house with lip balm and sunglasses!
