One thing about fashion is that it loves to repeat itself.  As soon as we think we’ve seen the last of something, it appears on runways again.  You almost can’t toss anything anymore because the likelihood of it coming back on trend in the near future is pretty high.  For example, the revival of fanny packs.  Yes, you read correctly.  The fanny pack is back!

Fanny packs are no longer the neon nylon versions from the 80’s and 90’s.  They have returned and they look pretty damn chic.  Fanny packs, or belt bags, the new name they’ve assumed, are hot this year thanks to Gucci, Marc Jacobs and Alexander Wang.  Aside from the runways, bloggers as well as supermodels, like Kendall and Bella Hadid, are rockin the trendiest designer fannies this season, whether it’s around their waist or across their chest.

What I love most about fanny packs is the ability to be hands free.  During the week, I am a bag lady.  Aside from my handbag that I would wear to work, I always have at least one or two canvas bags with me, usually carrying my lunch, a change of clothes (if I was going to the gym or a class after work) or a package.  Who am I kidding? Packages.  So when it comes to the weekend, I like to travel light and bring little to nothing with me, which is why I usually opt for a mini bag or as of late, a fanny pack.  I throw in the few things that I need (phone, keys, etc) and I’m ready to go and run errands or have brunch!  I have what I need sitting comfortably on my waist and I’m making my life a little easier! 🙂

Fanny packs aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.  The more stylish version of its predecessor will be coming with us into the spring/summer 2018.  So you still have time to pick one up if you haven’t yet!  You can find fanny packs at Forever 21, Urban Outfitters and Steve Madden or even grab the one I’m wearing from Free People.  If you want to participate in this trend but don’t want to buy a fanny, you can turn a crossbody bag into a one!  If your crossbody has a long detachable strap, wrap the strap around your waist twice and bam!  You have a fanny pack without breaking the bank!

How do you feel about the return of fanny packs?

So I have been seeing this trend come back, and I thought there was no way that I could get on board. Seeing yours from free people though it looks so chic! I may have to reevaluate!
