Hi there! I know, it’s been a while since my last post!  I’ve been spending a lot of time at work, specifically at my job’s holiday pop-up shop and renovating my bedroom.  That’s right!  I have officially started renovating my bedroom!

In my last blog post and even on Instagram, I mentioned that I was in a weird funk and that I wasn’t feeling motivated.  I was putting a lot of my time and energy into my job, as I should because it pays my bills and keeps the blog going!  However, I needed something, aside from blogging, to do in my personal life.  I needed a project to get myself motivated again.

Before I got laid off last year, I was planning on renovating my bedroom.  I obviously had to put that on hold but now that I’m working again, I decided to put it back in motion.

Just to give a little backstory: my bedroom has been purple and grey for the past three years.  At the time, the colors made sense because of the bedroom theme I had.  Since then, I’ve outgrown that color story and I’ve actually started to hate it.  It made me spend less time in my room because it just felt so gloomy and uninspiring.

I’ve grown a lot this past year and wanted my the changes I make to my room to reflect who I am now and allow me to be more creative.  I decided that I wanted a brighter and happier color in my room and what color has always made me happy? Pink!

With repainting my room, I knew that I wanted a new bed frame, a night stand and something new – a desk!  I have not had a desk in my bedroom probably since before college!  In efforts to take my brand/blog more seriously (and stay consistently motivated), I decided that I wanted to buy a desk for my room.  I want a space where I can be comfortable, inspired and productive rather than sitting at my dining table or on my bed, where I am often distracted.  The wall where I am putting my new desk is empty but I want to hang up wall art and things that I inspire me, like an inspiration wall.

I even decided to take it to the next level and get floor tiles!  In my old apartment, my mom and I always had carpet and tiles throughout.  When we moved into this new apartment years ago, we talked about getting floor tiles but only put them in our kitchen.  We never revisited the conversation of adding them in the bedrooms so I’ve just had a rug in my bedroom.  When I was at Home Depot buying paint, I passed by the floor/tile section and immediately fell in love with a set of tiles that I knew would compliment my pink walls and new furniture perfectly.

My mom and I are officially done with painting my room.  We started putting down the tiles and even though we’re not completely done yet, I am already in love with my new room.  It feels so elevated and truly reflects me.  I’m already so much happier in my room than I was a few weeks ago.

My desk and night stand have arrived and are already assembled.  My bed is arriving next week, which is putting pressure on us to get things done quickly.

I will be documenting this renovation and will share where I will and have purchased things, like furniture and tiles.  If you’re not following me already on Instagram, click the link below to do so and follow along on the journey!
