For those of you who haven’t heard of or have been reluctant to try Ipsy, let me give a little background on it! Ipsy is a monthly beauty subscription that allows you to try new products based on a beauty quiz you take upon signing up. The products range from cosmetic, hair and skin care from brands like Benefit Cosmetics, NYX, Alterna haircare and more! Five deluxe sized samples are sent monthly in a cute, reusable bag related to a theme. For only $10 a month, it’s a great way to try out new products and get introduced to new brands!
I joined Ipsy back in April 2013 and in the past three years have been exposed to so many new brands and products that I still use to this day. Through Ipsy I discovered the amazing pink and rose gold Luxie Beauty brushes that are vegan and cruelty free as well as and Pixi Beauty and their great skin care line. I also I finally found the perfect black eyeliner from Doucce that stays on my waterline for hours!
The glam bag theme for June is Rebel Rebel, which reflects so well on this bag’s bold graffiti design. I love the concept behind straying away from the norm and how both graffiti artists and makeup artists express themselves through a form of art. I love this month’s bag and the samples I received.
The five samples I received are: Doucce Boombastic Lash Volumizer Mascara, Urban Decay Eyeshadow in ‘Lounge’, Boo Boo Cover-Up Concealer, Liptini Satin Lip Color in Pink-Tini and Frank Body Original Body Scrub.
I am very picky when it comes to mascaras. I wasn’t born with long lashes (wah!) so I’m always looking for a formula that will lengthen and give my lashes some ‘wow’ volume! As I mentioned before, I received my holy grail Doucce eyeliner in my ipsy bag a few months ago, so it was great to receive another Doucce product as the brand is still new to me. I tried the Boombastic Lash Volumizer Mascara yesterday and it definitely gave me that ‘wow’ volume that I search for! On my lashes, the length and volume were very close to the voluminous lashes I achieve after using the Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir mascara. If you know me, I swear by that mascara as it has changed my life when it launched earlier this year! I am loving this Doucce mascara and now want to check out the rest of the product line to see what other great products they have!
I’ve been an Urban Decay customer for years but have never really purchased their eye shadows, even though I hear the pigmentation is great! I received the eye shadow sample in Lounge, which is a pretty duo-tone shade that changes color right before you. In the packaging it looks like mauvey-blue but when swatched on my hand, it turns more reddish – pretty cool concept! It’s not a color I would wear often but I know there will be a night where this eyeshadow completes my look perfectly!
I was very excited to receive the Boo Boo Cover-Up Concealer. I’ve definitely been on the lookout for new concealers to try and this one came just at the right time. I googled it before trying it (as I do with just about every product – I don’t try anything without reading reviews!) This concealer had 5 star reviews all over google and Amazon! I tried it out yesterday also, applying under my eyes and on a pesky pimple that grew on my cheek overnight. I then applied my Too Faced Born This Way foundation over and oh my God! It definitely lives up to the hype and has great coverage! The shade I received is a little too light for my skin tone but I will definitely be purchasing a full size in the Medium shade!
I wasn’t too happy to receive the Liptini Satin Lip Color in my bag. The shade and scent are both great but I’ve never been a fan of lip creams so unfortunately this product doesn’t really serve a purpose for me!
Last summer, I tried the Frank Body Original Scrub and loved it but can’t remember why I didn’t purchase again when I ran out! It’s a coffee body scrub that doesn’t have any parabens, silicones or glycols so it’s great for the skin! It’s definitely important to exfoliate the body as well as your face to rid of dead skin cells on the skin’s surface. Exfoliating relieves clogging of the skin to uncover fresh new cells that allow moisturizing to penetrate the skin deeper for healthier looking skin!
Although there are many monthly subscriptions out there, Ipsy has been my favorite thus far. Great price, great monthly products and great service! If I’ve turned any skeptic into a potential Ipster, you can join today at the link below! 🙂
